Worn Well's Visual Identity
Graphic design: Emily Russell
Worn Well’s custom wordmark is an expressive identifier for a peaceful protest, embodying slow-fashion values and reflecting themes that emerged from the survey around clothing that is most loved and most worn by our community. The design intention needed empathy and a human-centred approach – something that honoured personal expression and the intricate craftsmanship at the heart of slow fashion.
Our intention is for others to feel connected to the project and survey themes. It was important that the making of the wordmark told meaningful stories and mirror the act of personalised expression and making. By crafting Worn Well by hand, each character developed has its own individuality, inspired by cotton thread and the practice of mending which was another theme identified through community stories.
I loved how this process forced me to slow down, fully immerse myself in the moment, and work within a state of slow design free from mass production and grounded in a more thoughtful and responsive approach.
